Habitot's hands-on exhibits, art, and maker activities for young children and families celebrate play! Habitot's traveling "mini museum" of mobile exhibits plus art, STEM, and maker activities is going on the road! Our exhibits and activities are best for kids 0-5, and siblings and adults are encouraged to play, too! This event will be held at the Port of Oakland. This location is freeway accessible . Public transport options include BART via 12th St Oakland City Center Station and the AC Transit #12 bus. Nearby parking available at the Broadway & Embarcadero West Garage or the Washington St & Embarcadero Garage (fees may apply). Metered parking available. Habitot Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization serving a wide range of families! This event is FREE and funded by First 5 Alameda County with support from the Port of Oakland. Each registration admits a SINGLE FAMILY GROUP with any combination of children and adults in the same household. Please register for just ONE time slot (1 hour and fifteen minutes) to allow as many families as possible to attend our event. San Leandro Library patrons will be accepted as walkups as space allows. Because Habitot is a nonprofit organization, we appreciate donations for ongoing and operating costs beyond funded events. Thank you! What to Expect! Fun, interactive activity stations for small hands and bodies! Rocket Launcher Build your own rocket at our maker table and launch it 30ft into the sky with a hand-cranked air pressure contraption. WaterWorks Playing with water is a learning opportunity! Explore boats, funnels, buckets, and streams to learn about the properties of water, and just have fun! Art, STEM, and Making Stations Create art using a wide range of materials that encourage "process" and not "product" learning. Experiment with tools and materials without worrying about the mess! Little fingers can touch and engage in sensory learning. Babies and toddlers, parents and kids are welcome to explore and create! Paintable Wall Imagine an entire mural created by children on our giant paintable wall. Nontoxic washable paint. Ball Run Design your very own ball run with endless combinations of tubes, gutters, and more on our giant magnetic wall! Recycled Art Cart Use industry cast-offs and other household items destined for the landfill to create imaginary sculptures... or anything at all. Tell a story about what you've built. Imagination Playground Blocks Build a fort, ball ramps, or anything you can imagine with Imagination Playground’s big foam blocks. This is a great activity for making new friends as you build together. Boat Making & Tinkering Design, build, and decorate a boat from recycled materials. Test how it floats and sails in the water table. Decide if it needs anything added to it or taken away. A fun design activity! Baby Ball Pit Just for the littlest ones — a wading pool filled with multi-colored plastic balls.
