Master Gardeners: Vermiculture
Union City Library, Union City
5yr–12yr
Vermiculture is worm farming, or working with worms to break down food waste into fertilizer. Do you have fruit and veggie scraps at home, such as potato skins, apple cores, onion peels, or broccoli stems? Do you have a small space to dedicate to these earth-friendly critters? Then vermiculture is for you! This workshop is intended for elementary school-aged children (5 - 10 years old). This program will take place outside in the Children's Patio. This workshop, presented by Alameda County's UC Master Gardeners, will teach you the benefits and uses of worm farming. We will learn to set up a bin, harvest, and use this garden fertilizer.
