Boom! Pow! Become a Superhero!

Be the hero of your own adventure with this fun, comics-inspired craft! Participants will create a background and then add themselves to their background as a "superhero." Participants are invited to bring a photo of themselves to add to their craft or they may add a photo later at home. Materials will be provided. This program is best suited for children ages 5-12 and their families. Free. Pre-registration is not required. The Graphic Novel Making Contest was developed in 2008 as a teen program at a single branch library in recognition of growing interest in graphic novels and graphic arts. Inspired by participants' enthusiasm and the quality of art, the contest grew into a system-wide annual tradition, open to participants of all ages and all California residents.
