Art History for Kids: African Batiks
San Lorenzo Library, San Lorenzo
6yr–12yr
Explore the beautiful patterns of African batik art! In this hands-on program, kids will learn about artist Gasali Adeyemo and discover how batik designs are created using wax and dye. Then they'll make their own indigo-inspired artwork using simple materials like white crayons and liquid watercolor. As the color is added, patterns appear like magic! This event is designed for kids ages 6–12. Please register, as space and supplies are limited . We'll work in squares, each filled with a design, to create a patchwork "quilt" of artwork to take home and enjoy. This workshop will be led by art teacher and educator Raquel Gunther. All materials will be provided.
